Vision
We envision a society where every person has the freedom to read, learn, and think for themselves, free from censorship or suppression. We believe readers of all ages should be able to engage with stories that reflect the full spectrum of the human experience. We believe in the power of diverse stories to educate, inspire and unite.
Objectives
We exist to ensure that books are not censored because of their themes, characters, or historical perspectives. We believe in the power of literature to ignite the imagination, foster empathy, preserve a multitude of historical points of view, and challenge the mind. MOVE THE MARGIN is dedicated to the imperative cause of keeping published literature in the hands of all readers. We are committed to protecting access to books as a fundamental right in a democratic society.)
Our objectives are:
- Make banned books accessible to all
- Raise national awareness about the adverse impacts and implications of book bans.
- Advocate for the rights of readers and protect the role of writers, educators, librarians and others whose work is to
- Support communities affected by book banning through outreach and support, such as the distribution of censored literary material and other appropriate resources
- Create replicable models for book ban opposition initiatives in particularly affected regions
